Key takeaways
  • €4,900–€9,000 — current Andrology Abroad private-treatment band for penile implant surgery in Türkiye, including both malleable and premium 3-piece inflatable options.
  • €4,900–€5,500 — a reasonable current planning band for a malleable penile prosthesis package; inflatable devices account for the higher end of the overall range.
  • €7,500–€9,000 — current planning band for 3-piece inflatable penile implants, depending on manufacturer/model and case complexity.
  • The European Association of Urology identifies two main implant classes: inflatable prostheses (2- and 3-piece) and semi-rigid/malleable devices; the choice of device is therefore a major reason penile implant prices cannot be represented by one number.
  • For international patients, Turkish rules state that international healthcare pricing is determined under the Ministry of Health's applicable public healthcare pricing framework, while medicines and medical materials are supplied by the healthcare institution.
  • For context rather than a direct private-price comparison, U.S. Medicare's published national average approved amount for CPT 54405, insertion of a multi-component inflatable penile prosthesis, is $18,746 in an ambulatory surgical centre, including the listed doctor and facility fees; this is not the same as a cash-pay private hospital quote.

What moves the price

Implant type
The biggest pricing difference is usually between a malleable implant and an inflatable prosthesis. Inflatable devices contain more components and generally sit toward the upper end of the price range.
Manufacturer and model
Penile implants are not one interchangeable product. Different models from manufacturers such as Boston Scientific, Coloplast and Rigicon have different device designs and commercial acquisition costs. The EAU notes that current evidence does not demonstrate superiority of one implant manufacturer over another, so device selection should consider the individual patient rather than price alone.
Primary surgery versus revision
A first-time implantation is normally more predictable financially. Revision can require removal of an existing prosthesis, management of scar tissue, replacement of components or treatment of infection.
Penile fibrosis
Severe corporal fibrosis can make cylinder placement technically more demanding and may require additional surgical work or specialized implant selection.
Peyronie's disease
Some men with Peyronie's disease and erectile dysfunction need additional straightening procedures at the time of implantation. The EAU specifically describes modelling, plication and incision/excision with or without grafting as procedures that may accompany prosthesis implantation in selected patients.
Previous pelvic or abdominal surgery
Previous prostate, bladder or abdominal surgery may influence operative planning, particularly reservoir placement with a 3-piece prosthesis.
Additional hospital or hotel nights
The standard package assumes an uncomplicated planned stay. Additional accommodation or inpatient treatment can increase the final amount.

Insurance and paying for it

What each system generally does for penile implant surgery, by country. This describes the rules; it cannot tell you your own cover.

United Kingdom
Public systemCovered with criteria
When: Penile prosthesis surgery may be available through the NHS for men with severe erectile dysfunction when conservative treatments have failed or are unsuitable and specialist assessment confirms that implantation is clinically appropriate.
How: The patient normally enters the pathway through NHS urology services and is referred for specialist andrology or penile prosthesis assessment. This is a clinical referral pathway rather than a reimbursement claim made after private treatment.
You will need: GP or urology referral, relevant medical history, erectile dysfunction treatment history, previous operative records where applicable, and specialist assessment.
United States
Public systemCovered with criteria
When: Medicare recognizes surgical treatment of erectile dysfunction, including penile prosthesis implantation, when treatment is medically necessary. Actual coverage and patient liability depend on eligibility, medical indication, setting and the patient's Medicare arrangement.
How: Treatment should be provided through a Medicare-participating provider. The treating urologist and facility establish medical necessity and submit the applicable procedure and supporting information to Medicare.
You will need: Medical records supporting erectile dysfunction diagnosis and medical necessity, treatment history, physician documentation, Medicare details and any documentation requested by the provider or Medicare contractor.
Canada
Public systemCovered with criteria
When: Public funding for penile prosthesis surgery and the implant itself varies by province and treatment centre. Canadian research has documented full coverage at some centres and substantial patient out-of-pocket device costs at others.
How: The patient should be assessed by a urologist within the relevant provincial healthcare system. The treating centre determines whether the operation and selected prosthesis are publicly funded and whether the patient must pay any device-related amount.
You will need: Provincial health coverage information, urology referral, medical history, erectile dysfunction treatment history and any documentation requested by the implanting centre.
France
Public systemCase by case
When: Penile prosthesis implantation can be reimbursed within the French healthcare system when there is an established medical indication for severe erectile dysfunction. Eligibility depends on specialist assessment, the procedure performed, the prosthesis used and applicable reimbursement rules.
How: The patient is assessed by a urologist, who establishes the indication for penile prosthesis surgery. Treatment is then arranged through a participating hospital or clinic under the French healthcare reimbursement pathway. Any remaining professional-fee supplements may be covered partly or fully by complementary insurance, depending on the patient's policy.
You will need: Carte Vitale or health-insurance details, urology consultation and diagnosis, relevant medical history, previous erectile-dysfunction treatment history, prescriptions and hospital documentation where required.
Assurance Maladie — CCAM · as of 2026-09-04
Germany
Public systemCase by case
When: For patients covered by German statutory health insurance, medically necessary hospital treatment is generally covered under the statutory system. For penile prosthesis surgery, the clinical indication should be established by a urologist; coverage should not be interpreted as automatic for every patient, hospital or requested implant model.
How: The patient should first undergo specialist urological assessment. If implantation is medically indicated, the treating hospital coordinates treatment through the statutory insurance pathway. Patients should confirm with the hospital and Krankenkasse whether prior approval or additional documentation is required for their particular case.
You will need: Electronic health insurance card, specialist/urology assessment, diagnosis, medical records, previous erectile-dysfunction treatment history and any additional documentation requested by the hospital or Krankenkasse.
Spain
Public systemCase by case
When: Penile prosthesis implantation may be provided within Spain's National Health System for appropriately selected patients with erectile dysfunction when specialist assessment supports surgical treatment. Access and treatment pathways can differ between autonomous communities and hospitals.
How: The patient normally enters the public pathway through primary care or urology and is referred for specialist assessment. When penile prosthesis implantation is indicated, treatment is arranged through an appropriate public hospital or specialist urology service rather than claimed retrospectively as private treatment.
You will need: Public health card, referral where required, urology assessment, diagnosis, relevant medical records and history of previous erectile-dysfunction treatments.
Australia
Public systemCovered with criteria
When: Medicare provides benefits for eligible services associated with implantation of an artificial erection device. The amount covered and any patient contribution depend on Medicare eligibility, the procedure performed, treatment setting and whether the patient is treated publicly or privately. Device funding in private hospital treatment is also affected by applicable private-health-insurance arrangements.
How: The patient is assessed by a specialist urologist. The treating provider determines the applicable Medicare Benefits Schedule items. For private hospital treatment, the patient should also obtain confirmation from their private health insurer regarding hospital and prosthesis/device benefits before surgery.
You will need: Medicare details, specialist referral where required, urology assessment, diagnosis and relevant medical records. For private treatment, private health insurance details and any required insurer pre-authorisation should also be provided.

Coverage rules change and depend on your policy. Confirm with your insurer before you book. An itemised proposal from us is the document a claim or reimbursement request usually asks for.

More about the cost of penile implant surgery

Why does penile implant surgery cost less in Turkey?

A lower quotation in Türkiye does not necessarily mean that a different type of operation is being performed. International treatment prices reflect several components: hospital charges, surgeon and anaesthesia fees, the prosthesis itself, medical supplies, accommodation and the commercial structure under which international healthcare is delivered.

Türkiye also regulates international healthcare services. Regulations published in the Official Gazette state that international healthcare pricing must follow the framework established by the Ministry of Health for public healthcare pricing, and that medicines and medical materials are supplied by the healthcare institution.

For patients comparing countries, the useful question is therefore not simply “Which country is cheapest?” but “What device, hospital care and aftercare are included in the quoted amount?”

Does a more expensive penile implant produce a better erection?

Not automatically.

The EAU states that the available penile prostheses fall into inflatable and semi-rigid categories and reports no head-to-head evidence demonstrating superiority of one manufacturer over another. Three-piece inflatable devices may be preferred because they can provide a more natural erection and flaccid state, but the appropriate device depends on anatomy, manual dexterity, previous surgery, expectations and surgeon assessment.

That is why Andrology Abroad should show cost by device type rather than presenting the most expensive implant as inherently the “best.”

What should a penile implant quote specify?

A useful quotation should name the exact implant manufacturer and model, rather than saying only “3-piece implant.”

It should also state whether the device, surgeon, anaesthesia, operating theatre, hospital admission, medication, hotel, transfers, follow-up and potential additional charges are included.

This matters because two quotes that both say “penile implant surgery” may cover substantially different services.

Is penile implant surgery a permanent solution for erectile dysfunction?

A penile prosthesis is an implanted surgical treatment intended to provide the mechanical rigidity required for intercourse. The EAU recommends penile prosthesis implantation when other erectile dysfunction treatments fail or when an appropriately informed patient chooses this treatment.

It should not, however, be described as a device that can never require another operation. Infection, erosion and eventual mechanical failure can require revision or replacement. NHS patient information, for example, reports an infection risk of 2–3% and notes that mechanical failure can occur years later and require further surgery.

Common questions about cost

How much does penile implant surgery cost in Turkey in 2026?
Penile implant surgery in Turkey generally falls within an Andrology Abroad planning range of €4,900–€9,000 in 2026. Malleable implants are usually at the lower end, while premium 3-piece inflatable prostheses are at the higher end. Your final quotation depends on the exact device and surgical requirements.
How much does a 3-piece penile implant cost in Turkey?
A 3-piece inflatable penile implant package typically falls around €7,500–€9,000 in our current 2026 pricing. The exact amount depends on the manufacturer and model, hospital arrangements and whether additional surgery is necessary.
What is the cheapest type of penile implant?
A malleable or semi-rigid prosthesis is generally less expensive than a 3-piece inflatable implant. Under our current Turkey pricing, malleable implant packages start around €4,900.
Does the Turkey penile implant price include the implant itself?
It should, but patients should verify this explicitly. Andrology Abroad quotations state the selected implant separately and the standard package price includes the prosthesis. A quotation should ideally identify the manufacturer and model, not simply say “penile implant.”
Are there hidden costs after penile implant surgery?
Additional expenses can arise if the operation is substantially more complex than anticipated, a longer hospital stay becomes medically necessary, additional hotel nights are required, or another procedure is added. Flights and unrelated medical treatment are not included in the standard package.
Are flights included in the penile implant package?
No. International flights are normally purchased separately by the patient. Hotel accommodation and local VIP transfers can be included in the Andrology Abroad treatment package.
Why does a 3-piece penile implant cost more than a malleable implant?
A 3-piece prosthesis is mechanically more complex, with cylinders, a pump and a separate reservoir. Malleable implants use bendable cylinders without the pump-and-reservoir system. Both are recognized penile prosthesis categories in European urological guidance.
Does insurance pay for penile implant surgery?
It depends on the country, healthcare system, medical indication and individual policy. For example, U.S. Medicare recognizes medically appropriate diagnosis and treatment of impotence, including penile prosthesis implantation, while NHS penile prosthesis treatment is available through selected specialist pathways. This does not establish coverage for any individual patient.
Does the implant warranty cover revision surgery?
Not necessarily. A manufacturer's device warranty and the cost of another surgical procedure are different things. Patients should ask separately what the manufacturer covers, what the hospital covers and what surgical, hospital, travel or accommodation costs would apply if revision became necessary.
Will I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit may be required to confirm surgery, reserve hospital arrangements and order or allocate the selected prosthesis. The amount, payment deadline, cancellation terms and refundable/non-refundable components should be stated in the patient's individual quotation rather than presented as a universal rule.

How we produce these figures

Our 2026 Turkey price range is based on penile implant quotations and package prices reviewed by Andrology Abroad on 4 September 2026. We separate our own commercial price data from independent evidence: device types and clinical statements are checked against European Association of Urology guidance, healthcare-system information against official government or public-health sources, and currency conversions against published central-bank reference rates. We do not use another clinic's advertised price as evidence for our cost band. Prices are presented as ranges because implant model, surgical complexity and individual medical requirements can change the final quotation.

  • Every band on this page was entered by our team from a named source, with the date it was checked. A figure without a source and a date does not appear.
  • Bands, never single prices. The only single figures are medians of real quotes.
  • Home-country prices are converted to euros at the rate and date noted on each row, not live.
  • Prices change. We re-review them and show the date; a page more than eighteen months old hides its comparison until it is checked again.
  • Nothing here is a quote. Your itemised proposal, with the device named and the exclusions written down, is the only figure that applies to you.
