How we verify

Anyone can call themselves verified. This page says exactly what we check, what we refuse to publish, and how you can check our work yourself.

Surgeons and clinics have no logins here

This is the first thing to understand, because it is unusual. On most directories, a clinic buys a listing and then writes it. They enter their own credentials, choose their own photographs, and describe their own results. The directory is a billboard they rent.

There is no login for a surgeon or a clinic on this site. They cannot edit their page, add a qualification, or claim an accreditation. Every fact here was entered by our team after we checked it. That means we are accountable for every word — and it means a clinic cannot quietly improve its own profile the week before you read it.

What we check before a surgeon appears

  1. Identity, against a medical register. We match the surgeon to their registration with the relevant authority. Their registration number and the public lookup URL are published on their profile, so you can repeat the check in about a minute. If we cannot find them on a register, they do not appear here at all.
  2. Qualifications, individually. Each degree, board certification and fellowship is recorded separately with its institution and year. Not a paragraph of prose — discrete claims, each one checkable.
  3. Where they actually operate. Surgeons are linked to specific facilities. A surgeon who operates at one hospital is not listed under three.
  4. Case volume — or nothing. See below. This is the one we are strictest about.

Why we sometimes publish no number at all

How many of an operation a surgeon performs each year is among the strongest predictors of how it goes. It is also almost never published, because it is inconvenient. We publish it where we can — and where we cannot, we say so rather than guessing.

Every volume figure on this site carries two things a number is meaningless without:

  • How it is known.Confirmed with the clinic, independently documented, or reported by the surgeon. A surgeon's own claim is labelled as exactly that — it appears in a different colour, marked self-reported, and never renders as though it had been confirmed.
  • When. A volume from four years ago describes a different surgeon.

If a figure has no source or no date, we withhold it and the profile says why. An unsourced number is worse than no number, because it looks like information.

Verification expires

A check performed once and left alone is a check that was true once. Registrations lapse, accreditations run out, surgeons move. Every verified record on this site carries the date it was last checked and the date it is due to be re-checked, and both are shown on the profile — not hidden in our database.

When a record goes past its re-check date, our team sees it flagged in red until someone does the work. Where verification has lapsed, the record stops being published rather than quietly ageing in public.

What this looks like in the numbers today

3
verified surgeons published, of 6 in our records
3
held back — not yet verified, so not shown to you
2
verified clinics, of 5
1
due a re-check right now

These are live counts, not a claim. The second number matters most: it is the surgeons we are not showing you. A directory that verifies nobody has nothing to withhold.

What we do not do

  • We do not rank by payment. No clinic can buy a position, a badge, or a place in a comparison.
  • We do not publish outcome rates we cannot source.“98% success rate” is the most common claim in this industry and almost never has a citation attached. Where we state a rate, it cites a source.
  • We do not vet surgical skill. This is the honest limit. We can verify that a surgeon is who they say, is registered, holds the qualifications claimed, and performs the operation regularly. We cannot tell you they are good. Nobody who tells you otherwise is being straight with you.

If we get something wrong

Tell us and we will fix it or remove it. If you are a surgeon or a clinic and something on your page is inaccurate, contact us — we will check it against the source again and correct it. You still will not get a login.

See it for yourself

Every surgeon profile shows its registration number, the register we checked, when we checked it, and when it is due again.
