Doç. Dr. Ünsal Özkuvancı

Dr. Ünsal Özkuvancı is a urologist in Istanbul. He graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in Bursa in 1991. He trained in urology at Haseki Training and Research Hospital, then continued at the same clinic as a urology specialist. His own account gives 1996 as the year he qualified in urology.

He later passed the paediatric urology subspecialty examination and completed subspecialty training in the Division of Paediatric Urology at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, qualifying formally as a paediatric urologist. He completed his compulsory state service in that subspecialty at Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in urology by ÜAK in 2019.

His research profile lists around 40 publications with over 670 citations. The work most relevant to adult andrology is his 2017 study in International Braz J Urol on the long-term durability of tunica albuginea plication for congenital penile curvature. That paper followed patients operated before puberty into adulthood, and reported that only 5 of 13 patients had straight erections in adulthood, with the remainder showing recurrent curvature between 10° and 50° — a finding he published against his own technique, and one now cited in European narrative reviews on congenital penile curvature. He also co-authored a 54-patient study on the Allium bulbar urethral stent for recurrent bulbar urethral stricture, carried out during his time at Haseki.

He describes himself as currently working privately in paediatric urology and reconstructive urology. His own site positions him across paediatric urology, reconstructive urology, andrology and functional urology.
