- €2,500–€4,500 — practical 2026 planning range for private varicocele embolisation in Türkiye; individual quotations can fall outside this range.
- >90% technical success — a systematic review covering 30 studies and 3,505 patients found technical success above 90% across the embolic materials studied.
- 96% technical success and 93.75% clinical success were reported in a 2025 two-centre, 15-year retrospective study of 225 patients; ultrasound-confirmed recurrence was 6.25%.
- A 2022 systematic review/meta-analysis found similar recurrence and pregnancy outcomes for endovascular and surgical treatment, while endovascular treatment had fewer adverse events.
- Embolic material matters: an earlier systematic review reported average recurrence of approximately 4.2% with glue, 9.1% with coils alone and 11.0% with sclerosants alone, although studies were heterogeneous and these figures should not be interpreted as guaranteed individual outcomes.
What varicocele embolisation costs in Türkiye
Expect €2,500 – €4,500, with most quotes near €3,250. That band assumes interventional radiologist consultation, pre-procedure assessment, routine blood tests, venous access, diagnostic venography during the procedure, catheterisation and fluoroscopic guidance, embolisation procedure, standard embolic materials, hospital or angiography-suite charges, local anaesthesia and/or sedation where required, routine post-procedure medication, short observation/day-case care, initial follow-up are inside the price. The sections below say what is inside it, what moves it, and what the same operation costs where you live.

More about the cost of varicocele embolisation
How much does varicocele embolisation cost in Türkiye?
A useful 2026 planning range is €2,500–€4,500 for private treatment in Türkiye.
A straightforward unilateral procedure may sit toward the lower end of that range, while bilateral disease, difficult venous anatomy, recurrent varicocele after previous surgery or greater use of embolic material can increase the total.
However, there is an important limitation to this figure: there is not currently a sufficiently transparent national dataset allowing us to call €2,500–€4,500 the official “average cost of varicocele embolisation in Türkiye.”
For Andrology Abroad, the strongest wording is therefore:
“2026 private-treatment planning range: €2,500–€4,500.”
That distinction increases the credibility of the page instead of creating false precision.
What is varicocele embolisation?
A varicocele is abnormal enlargement of veins of the pampiniform plexus around the testicle.
Rather than making an incision to surgically ligate these veins, embolisation treats the problem from inside the venous system.
An interventional radiologist obtains venous access and advances a catheter under imaging guidance. Contrast venography helps identify the gonadal vein and collateral pathways.
The abnormal venous pathway is then occluded using an embolic technique.
Depending on the interventional team and anatomy, this may involve:
coils, liquid embolic agents, sclerosants, or combinations of these materials.
A systematic review involving 30 studies and 3,505 patients found technical success above 90% across the embolic materials evaluated.
Embolisation vs microsurgical varicocelectomy
These procedures should have separate cost pages.
Microsurgical varicocelectomy reaches and ligates the relevant veins surgically, generally through an inguinal or subinguinal approach.
Varicocele embolisation instead reaches the gonadal venous system through a catheter and uses imaging to occlude abnormal venous drainage.
A 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis found no statistically significant difference between endovascular and surgical treatment for recurrence or subsequent pregnancy, while endovascular treatment was associated with fewer adverse events.
More recent evidence adds nuance. A 2025 meta-analysis of 30 studies found sclero-embolisation had a statistically higher recurrence rate than high surgical ligation but lower overall complication and hydrocele rates.
So the page should not claim that embolisation is universally better than surgery.
How successful is varicocele embolisation?
It depends on what “success” means.
Technical success means that the interventional radiologist successfully accesses and embolises the target vein. It does not automatically mean infertility is corrected, pain disappears or pregnancy occurs.
A large systematic review reported technical success above 90% across different embolic agents.
A more recent 15-year retrospective analysis of 225 adults reported:
96% technical success
93.75% clinical success
6.25% ultrasound-confirmed recurrence
1.78% complication rate
No major complications were reported in that study.
These are study outcomes, not guaranteed results for an individual patient.
Does the type of embolic material matter?
Potentially.
The 2018 systematic review found average recurrence rates of approximately:
4.2% — glue
9.1% — coils alone
11.0% — sclerosants alone
8.44% — coils plus sclerosant
But those numbers came from different studies with considerable heterogeneity, so they should not be used to promise that one material gives a particular patient's recurrence risk.
A newer systematic review involving 21 studies and 2,236 patients found improvements in sperm concentration and motility in many studies and improvement in pain in all four studies that reported pain outcomes, but concluded that the evidence was insufficient to determine which embolisation material was superior.
That is a more balanced message for patients.
Can embolisation be used after failed varicocele surgery?
Yes, in selected patients.
One advantage of an endovascular approach is that venography can visualize residual veins and collateral pathways that may have contributed to persistence or recurrence.
A study of 31 patients with recurrent postsurgical varicocele reported successful embolisation in all patients and no major complications.
A broader systematic review of persistent or recurrent varicoceles found that repeat radiological or surgical treatment was feasible, but the authors emphasized that the overall quality of evidence was low.
Can varicocele embolisation improve fertility?
Treatment can improve semen parameters in selected men, but pregnancy cannot be guaranteed.
A systematic review comparing different embolisation materials found that most studies reporting semen outcomes showed improvements in sperm concentration and motility after embolisation. However, the evidence was insufficient to identify one embolic material as superior.
The 2022 meta-analysis comparing endovascular and surgical treatment found similar subsequent pregnancy outcomes between the two approaches.
For this reason, the website should avoid claims such as “embolisation restores fertility.”
A better formulation is:
“Varicocele treatment may improve semen parameters and may improve fertility prospects in appropriately selected men, but pregnancy depends on both male and female reproductive factors.”
Can varicocele come back after embolisation?
Yes.
Recurrence depends partly on anatomy, technique, embolic material and how recurrence is defined.
Published systematic-review data have reported different recurrence rates for different embolisation materials.
In the 2025 15-year retrospective series, patients self-reported recurrence more frequently, but ultrasound-confirmed recurrence was 6.25%.
This illustrates why websites should specify whether “recurrence” means symptoms, physical examination or imaging-confirmed disease.
What are the risks?
Potential complications include access-site bruising or bleeding, temporary pain, thrombophlebitis, embolic-material migration or non-target embolisation, contrast-related problems and recurrence.
Radiation exposure from fluoroscopy is another consideration, particularly in younger patients.
Serious complications appear uncommon in published series, but they are not impossible.
A 2025 series of 225 patients reported a 1.78% complication rate with no major events, while a systematic review found broadly favorable safety outcomes across embolic materials

How we produce these figures
Clinical claims were checked against peer-reviewed systematic reviews, meta-analyses and contemporary outcome studies. Türkiye's Ministry of Health has a current 2026 Public Health Services Price Tariff, including a July 2026 update. This provides official healthcare-tariff context but should not be interpreted as an average private medical-tourism price. Ministry of Health Because transparent nationwide private pricing specifically for varicocele embolisation is limited, the €2,500–€4,500 figure is presented as a private-treatment planning band, not an official national average. Actual quotations can vary according to unilateral or bilateral treatment, anatomy, embolisation materials, previous procedures, hospital and international-patient services.
- Every band on this page was entered by our team from a named source, with the date it was checked. A figure without a source and a date does not appear.
- Bands, never single prices. The only single figures are medians of real quotes.
- Home-country prices are converted to euros at the rate and date noted on each row, not live.
- Prices change. We re-review them and show the date; a page more than eighteen months old hides its comparison until it is checked again.
- Nothing here is a quote. Your itemised proposal, with the device named and the exclusions written down, is the only figure that applies to you.
