American Hospital (VKV), Istanbul

The American Hospital (Amerikan Hastanesi) in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, is one of the oldest and most established private hospitals in Türkiye. Founded in 1920, it has been run since the mid-1990s by the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV). It sits in the Şişli district on the European side of the city.

It was the first hospital in Türkiye to receive Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, widely cited as 2002, and has been re-accredited multiple times since. It is also a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, an affiliation that gives its doctors access to Mayo Clinic knowledge and second opinions.

For men’s health, the hospital has an active urology department covering uro-oncology and minimally invasive and robot-assisted (da Vinci) urological surgery.
